Good to know

When talking about nature in Portuguese, Relva commonly refers to the grass covering a lawn, while Erva is broader and can refer to herbaceous plants or wild grass. Folha is an individual leaf; Folhagem refers to leaves collectively, rather than a single leaf.

In plant vocabulary, Feto means a fern; in a biological context, the same word can also mean a fetus. Cria refers to a young animal and is grammatically feminine even when the animal is male. Its grammatical gender does not tell you the animal's sex.
