Good to know
Among the most common adverbs in Spanish, Muy intensifies adjectives or other adverbs, while Mal can describe how something is done. Casi means almost; Apenas often means hardly or barely.
In parts of Latin America, Apenas can also indicate that something has just happened. Ojalá expresses a wish and takes the subjunctive when followed by a clause. Probablemente expresses likelihood and can precede a verb in either the indicative or the subjunctive, depending on how the speaker presents the information.

Rules to remember
- Adverbs ending in -mente are formed from adjectives, using the feminine form when it differs from the masculine: Claramente, Rápidamente.
- These adverbs retain the adjective's written accent: Fácilmente and Cortésmente keep theirs; Claramente has none.
- A menudo, A veces and De vez en cuando are fixed adverbial phrases of frequency. They do not change for gender or number.
