Good to know

With time expressions in Spanish, context helps distinguish a point in time from a duration. Hace una hora places an event an hour ago. En una hora can mean an hour from now or describe the time needed to complete something. Desde ayer marks a starting point, while Durante mucho tiempo describes a duration.

Tan pronto como takes the subjunctive when the event is still to come. Cuando llegue a casa also uses the subjunctive for an anticipated arrival. En la mañana is common in parts of Latin America but less usual in Spain.
