Contaminado describes something already affected by pollution, while Contaminante can describe something that causes it. Reciclable means that something can be recycled; it does not mean it has already been recycled. Sostenible refers to sustainability, not just recycling.

Rules to remember

  • Ecosistema and Aroma are masculine nouns despite ending in -a. Erosión and Extinción are feminine.
  • Emisión becomes Emisiones in the plural: add -es and remove the written accent, while keeping the stress on the same syllable.
  • In Desechos tóxicos and Recursos renovables, the adjective follows the noun. Both words in each phrase are masculine plural.
