Good to know

When expressing numbers in Portuguese, the form for a hundred depends on the number. Cem means one hundred; Cento e um means one hundred and one. Quarto can mark fourth position in a sequence, while Um quarto names one of four equal parts.

Meio can mean half and agrees in gender with a noun it modifies. Metade is a feminine noun meaning half, regardless of the gender of what is divided.
